Guide to uploading documents

1.    Proof of Identification - Provide one of the below:

Passport

Please ensure that when you take a photo of your passport, pages three and four are both clearly visible.

Driving Licence

If you have either the old paper licence or new card format, please ensure that the photo you take of the licence clearly shows your name.

Immigration/ Age Card

Please ensure that the photo you take of your card clearly shows your name, photo and expiry date.

When uploading your ID you will be guided through by our ID partner Onfido.

What happens to my photo ID?

Onfido examines the information contained in the images, including the machine-readable data and the image metadata to ensure we verify your identity.

2.    Proof of Address - We require one of the following documents, dated within the last 3 months:
We prefer:

  • Any bank correspondence quoting your account number

  • Household Utility Bill

  • Any revenue correspondence

Top Tip: When taking a photo of the Proof of Address, we need to see the full page clearly. Ensure the image is not blurry and shows all 4 corners so we can verify your address.

However, we will accept these:

  • Social Welfare document quoting your PPS number

  • Any insurance correspondence quoting your account number

  • NDLS correspondence quoting your driver number

  • Correspondence from government body or local county council

  • Very account statement quoting your account number

3.    Proof of Income - What you need:

1 month of your personal bank statements

There are two options to upload your personal bank statements:

A - Open Banking
B - Upload Manually

Please use our Open Banking services (facilitated by CRIF Realtime Ireland) to seamlessly share your bank account information with us. Open Banking gives you the option to securely share your online account information with authorised providers.
CRIF is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland and licenced to operate in the Republic of Ireland.

A - The Open Banking process and your An Post Money Application:

  • For An Post Money to use the services of CRIF, your consent is required which you will be prompted for at the appropriate time in the An Post Money Document Portal. You should also review CRIF's privacy policy and terms of service.

  • You will be asked to select your bank account provider from a list. CRIF currently works with most of Ireland’s main banks. Under the second Payments Services Directive (PSD2), all banks in Ireland have to allow Open Banking connections, so if your bank is not currently featured yet, it soon will be.

  • You will automatically be redirected to complete Strong Customer Authentication with your Bank. Each bank shows this step slightly differently, but all will present you with a list of the accounts you hold with them.

  • Please select all of the bank accounts you hold with your bank (apart from business bank accounts) and approve in your banking application.

  • You may wish to connect accounts from several providers. If this is the case, choose the option to ‘Connect another account’. If you are finished, choose ‘Return to hub’ to continue uploading any remaining documents requested by us.

B - If you do not consent to CRIF, you must upload your bank statement manually.

  • We need to see one month of recent personal bank statements to show your income is being paid into that account. These can be downloaded from your online banking account and saved in PDF onto your desktop so you can them upload them into our document hub. They also need to be supplied in colour if you are taking a photo of the statement. If you are self-employed, we will require the last 2 Years of your Tax Assessment forms (Tax returns and Revenue acceptance forms).

  • Income not paid into your bank account? You can use a photo or PDF of a payslip, social welfare receipt, most recent pension statement or tax certificate.
