At An Post Money, we are committed to safeguarding your financial information and ensuring that your experience with us is secure. One of the most effective ways to protect yourself from fraud is by following a simple yet vital piece of advice: Never share your One-Time Password (OTP) with anyone.

What is an OTP and why is it important?

An OTP is a unique, temporary code that we send to your phone or email when you perform certain actions in An Post Money app. The purpose of the OTP is to confirm your identity and ensure that the transaction or action is authorised by you.

Because of its role in confirming your identity, your OTP is a key element in protecting your financial security. If you share it with anyone, for any reason, it could leave your account vulnerable to fraud and unauthorised access.

How scammers trick you into sharing OTPs

Unfortunately, scammers – also known as fraudsters - are constantly looking for ways to exploit unsuspecting customers. One of the most common scams involves someone calling or texting you, pretending to be from us, and asking you to share your OTP.

Important: An Post Money will never ask you to share your OTP over the phone, in a text, or via any other communication method.

If you ever receive a message or call asking for your OTP, it is a scam. No matter the circumstances or how convincing the request may seem, DO NOT provide your OTP to anyone. Hang up the phone or delete the message immediately.

Fraud prevention tips for your financial security

Never share your OTP with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from us, your bank, or any other financial institution.

If you receive a suspicious call or message, hang up or delete it. Do not engage with the sender.

Report suspicious activity to us or your bank immediately. You can reach us through the contact details in your app or on our website.

Monitor your accounts regularly to spot any unusual activity or unauthorised transactions.

Your financial security is our top priority, and we are here to help you stay safe from fraud.
