On March 31, we launch the 10th Definitive Stamp Series with the special theme of ‘Art on a Stamp’ to mark
the past 100 years of Commemorative stamp issues. The new series will look back over the state’s
century of existence and shows off artwork from among the cream of Irish artists, designers and creators on postage stamps, reflecting Ireland’s rich heritage.
A total of 12 new Definitive stamps will issue each year for the next three years. The first set, of eight stamps, issues on SOAR on March 31. Featured will be:
• Maps of Ireland by James Ingram (1922)
• Louis le Brocquy’s original stamp design to mark Ireland’s entry into the European Union (1973)
• Patrick Scott’s original stamp design to mark the World Ploughing Championships (1973)
• ‘Seabird and Landmarks’ by Nano Reid (2005)
• Ireland Series: Landscapes by Paul Henry (2008)
• Irish Fashion Designers, Orla Kiely and Philip Treacy (2010)
• Contemporary Arts II, ‘The Fall’ by Amanda Coogan (2013)
• Fin DAC and Maser with Urban Street Art (2017)
