An Post Board approves €107m sale of Naas Road site

25 May 2006

The site was previously occupied by An Post’s SDS operation.    It is on the southern side of the N7, between the Red Cow roundabout and Newlands Cross, adjoins the Luas station and its associated parking area and currently includes warehousing and offices.

Commenting on the sale, Mr Donal Curtin, Chief Executive of An Post said:
“We are pleased to have achieved such a strong price for this prime site which has been surplus to requirements since the reintegration of our parcels business with the mainstream mails operation.”

The site is part of an area between the Belgard Road and the M50 which is specifically mentioned as suitable for development in the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2004 - 2010 because of its proximity to improving public transport and employment locations.

The sale by public tender was handled by Jones Lang LaSalle. An Post was advised by solicitors Matheson Ormsby Prentice and Beauchamps Solicitors acted for the purchaser.

The buyer does not wish to be named at this time.

The sale was conducted in accordance with Government guidelines for the disposal of State assets.
