An Post - IPU Dispute

13 November 2002

Despite the difficulties, An Post staff had retained their customer focus and was maintaining services through alternative locations for their delivery routes, said Ken Robinson, the managing director of Letter Post, the mails division of An Post.

Praising the professionalism and commitment of An Post delivery staff, Mr Robinson said the company sought an early and satisfactory outcome to the dispute. An Post remained ready to conduct a fundamental review of the mailwork scale payment system within an agreed timescale, he said.

“The commitment of staff in delivery sub-offices has been outstanding. They are innocent bystanders in the dispute between the IPU and the company. They have ensured that mail deliveries in rural areas remain virtually unaffected by the IPU action. Any adverse impact on our deliveries is regretted,” Mr Robinson added.
