Away from home and worried about post piling up in the porch? Or anxious to prevent a buildup of important business mail?
MailMinder lets you suspend mail delivery to your home or business for up to 12 weeks, whether you’re away in Ireland or abroad. Your mail will be stored securely and delivered to you upon your return, giving you peace of mind.
Our Mailminder service:
- Looks after post for both business (PDF, 501.6KB) and residential (PDF, 731.7KB) addresses
- Minds your mail for periods of up to 12 weeks
- Suspends delivery to more than one address
How it works
You can set up the MailMinder service by:
- Applying online
- Downloading and posting us your application form (PDF, 731.7KB)
- Picking up an application form at your local post office
You should send your completed application form and fee to: An Post Redirection Unit, General Post Office, O'Connell Street Lower, Freepost, Dublin 1, D01 F5P2.
We need your completed application form and payment at least five working days in advance of the start date.
You will need to include the following details:
- The addresses you want MailMinder to cover
- The date you want MailMinder to begin holding your post
- The date you want to start receiving mail again
- The required fee or payment details
What it costs
The cost of the service depends on how long your mail delivery is suspended. You can choose from the following options:
Duration | Per residential address | Per business address |
Less than four weeks | €14 | €28 |
Four to eight weeks | €19 | €38 |
Eight to 12 weeks | €24 | €48 |
We accept the following methods of payment:
- Postal money order
- Credit or debit card
- Cheque
- Cash when paying at your local post office
Payment online is by credit or debit card only.

How do I cancel the service?

What do I do if I forget my MailMinder reference number?
If you forget your MailMinder reference number, just click Lost your Reference Number on the Resend form. Once you enter your email address, the most recent MailMinder reference number for this email address will be sent through.
