An Post Young Savers Beat Budget Day Blues!
6 December 2005
The An Post Young Savers scheme encourages children to experience the benefits of saving through classroom based activity and the purchase of Savings Stamps at their local Post Office.
Speaking at the awards ceremony in the GPO, Dublin, An Post Chief Exective, Donal Curtin said “
We strongly believe that if the seeds of saving are sown at an early stage, then the benefits of that experience and knowledge will stand that person in good stead throughout their life.
An Post handles more than 100 million transactions worth more than €14 billion in Post Offices every year. Sales of Savings Stamps totalled €4.5 million, much of it generated by primary schools participating in the Young Savers’ schools initiative.
Pupils, Teachers and Principals representing the winning schools were treated to a day’s celebration in the GPO including a special visit to the Christmas crib and Santa’s workshop displays in the GPO.
