An Post means (local) business

25 November 2008

Mr. Connell was marking An Post’s involvement in the Go Local campaign which runs throughout this week (Nov 23rd to 29th). An Post is joining forces with the IFA, GAA, the Churches, and other leading national organisations to promote local services, produce and voluntary groups.

He said An Post understands the pressures facing local communities because of the involvement of the company and its staff in the day-to-day life of communities nationwide.  ‘’We are investing in the development of our unique retail network, and improving local mails service quality, exactly because we understand the need to invest in all our futures at this time,’’ he said.

Mr. Connell said the Christmas shopping season is a particularly busy time for Post Offices and the mails service all over the country. “Our customers have a timely opportunity to support local business and enterprise by Going Local for their Christmas gifts. ‘’Just making the effort to spend a little more locally could make all the difference to the success of a local concern,’’ he said.

Daily mail volumes top eight million items a day during the Christmas rush period.
