An Post’s festive stamps launch Christmas

Christmas cards are at the very centre of a traditional Christmas; there’s pleasure in both sending and receiving them.  An Post handles between 3 and 7 million mail items each day during the Christmas lead-up. Mail volumes double and then treble as the holiday approaches with Christmas shopping, presents and greetings forming the bulk of the extra workload.

And the signal for the start of all that commerce and celebration is the launch of An Post’s Christmas stamp set. This year’s stamps are the work of design house Red&Grey using beautiful original artwork from Liz Rackard, a well-known artist and illustrator. As well as featuring classic Christmas scenes, the stamps are also completed in traditional seasonal colours.

The stamps are available in a number of formats including stamp booklets and on An Post’s counter SOAR (Stamps on a Roll) system. The €1 national stamp features a group of carol singers bringing their tidings of seasonal joy. The international (€1.35) stamp features a lovely winter scene complete with reindeer and robin.  A third stamp, contained in An Post’s very popular stamp booklets shows a classic image of the Three Wise Men as they follow the Star of Bethlehem. The €25 stamp booklet contains 26 stamps (1 free) and is perfect for Christmas mailing.
