Dog Show gets stamp of approval
26 May 2009
More than 8,000 dogs, 24 dog-minders and over 100,000 dog-lovers from all over the world will attend the prestigious 3-day event at Dublin’s RDS this bank holiday weekend. The Irish Kennel Club successfully wooed the event to Dublin, the first time it has ever been held outside of mainland Europe.
The show promises plenty of activities for families and dog enthusiasts alike, including the prestigious Kennel Club Special Crufts Qualifying Show for Irish Native Breeds.
Wagging his tail and sniffing, Homer’s satisfaction with the colourful new stamp was clear:
“This design by Steve Simpson takes some licking and I know that Irish dogs and their owners all over Ireland are looking forward to the Postman delivering letters and cards bearing this new stamp,” he barked.
The new stamp is available in handy self-adhesive books of ten (€5.50) at www.irishstamps.ie; at the GPO Philatelic Shop and main post offices and the show itself this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the RDS, Dublin. First Day Covers are also available. More information about the European Dog Show is available at (new window) www.ikc.ie
