Get stuck into Christmas early is An Post advice
10 November 2016
Post offices have been advising customers to beat the Christmas rush by getting geared for Christmas posting earlier this year. An Post normally handles some 2.5 million mails items every day with that figure as much as trebling as Christmas approaches. To help Christmas posters An Post has just unveiled its last posting dates and post office opening times on our website.
An Post’s much anticipated seasonal stamp series have just hit counters all over the country. Dublin based designers WorkGroup created three new stamps for Christmas 2016. The illustrations use simple two-dimensional patterns and are reminiscent of early Christian manuscripts. Images of the Holy family and The Magi will adorn two of the stamps. A third stamp featuring Christmas decorations has been chosen for An Post’s handy Christmas Stamp booklets. Customers receive 26 self adhesive stamps, one free stamp included, priced €18. All may be viewed and purchased at irishstamps.ie, main post offices and the GPO, Dublin.
First key date for Christmas 2016 is Wednesday December 7th which is the latest recommended dates for International mail, except USA, Europe and UK. The date for standard US posting is December 13, parcels and registered post on December 9th. The key dates for Europe and Great Britain is December 19th and for Ireland (Post and parcels) is December 21st.
An Post has also come up with two neat new services for the growing army of online shoppers. DeliveryBox is a secure, permanent, weatherproof box for the exterior of your house into which An Post deliver all your mail – even when you are not at home. See deliverybox.ie for details.
