Mouthwatering Stamps Celebrate Gastronomy
9 May 2005
Designed by Dialogue, with original photography by Mike O’Toole, they feature examples of the best of Irish meats and seafood prepared by award-winning Chef Ross Lewis of Chapter One Restaurant in Dublin.
The stamps celebrate the wealth of Irish food resources – succulent lamb and beef from our fertile pastures and sparkling seafood and shellfish from our seas and rivers rich in high quality natural produce.
The 48c stamps shows the ingredients of traditional Irish stew, including lamb, cabbage, carrots and potatoes while the 65c stamps shows fresh oysters served on a bed of ice.
Both stamps have been produced in a specially designed ten-stamp sheetlets while the accompanying First Day Cover shows a photograph, by Mike O’Toole, of a selection of Irish farmhouses cheeses.
Stamps and First Day Cover are available from the Philatelic Shop at the GPO, Dublin l or online from www.irishstamps.ie.
