One Direct takeover of Aviva local branch network now complete.

6 November 2012

Under the agreement, first announced in May 2012, part of Aviva’s existing branch office - its personal Car & Home business book – has transferred to One Direct. This aspect of Aviva’s insurance business will now be sold and serviced directly to consumers under the One Direct brand through a new network of Post Office-based facilities and One Direct outlets.

One Direct, a wholly owned subsidiary of An Post was established 13 years ago and employs over 100 staff from their base in Athlone.  Former Aviva branch customers can continue to have their insurance needs serviced locally by One Direct in selected Post Offices and One Direct outlets.  As part of the business agreement, 45 former Aviva branch office employees transferred to One Direct, thereby ensuring a continuity of contact and local service for customers.

Aviva commercial insurance and associated personal lines business, health insurance and life and pensions business does not form part of this transfer. Aviva customers with queries arising from the transfer of this business segment to One Direct can contact either Aviva directly or their nearest One Direct outlet for further information. See the list of One Direct outlets.

David Egan, Managing Director, One Direct explained that Aviva and One Direct have had a long-standing and very successful business relationship: “I am delighted our existing contract has now been strengthened, with both One Direct and Aviva firmly focused on the further expansion and growth of the business. Through our association with An Post we can continue to provide top quality, convenient, personal service to customers in their local area.  We are investing heavily in the One Direct customer facilities at both Post Offices and new One Direct outlets and we very much look forward to welcoming customers,” he added.

Seán Egan, Chief Executive, Aviva Ireland welcoming the completion of the transfer, commented: “Aviva Ireland’s goal throughout this transfer process was to ensure that our customers would continue to enjoy a high level of service and access to Aviva products. We also wanted to safeguard jobs. Aviva’s agreement with One Direct achieves both.”
