'Post now' to send a real taste of Ireland this St. Patrick's Day

1 January 0001

StPatricks-HamperKeeping family and friends living abroad stocked up on staple comforts from home is a year round job. St. Patrick’s Day is no exception, with the Irish abroad needing a top-up on their favourite foods.  So now is the time to post off a fresh supply of teabags, crisps, chocolate, curry powder (yes, curry powder) and other favourites.

Gilles Ferrandez of An Post Parcels said “We certainly see an increase in parcels being posted abroad in March. The care parcel is more than the sum of its parts.  It’s about delivering a taste of home with that first cup of tea in the morning, a sneaky crisp sandwich or a favourite chocolate bar. These parcel deliveries are personal, it’s all about giving family or friends a connection with home, that means so much at any time of year.”

“You can make the most of your parcel by removing extra packaging and wrapping food items in jumpers, new pyjamas and St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts, hats and scarves that are also popular gifts for the national holiday.  A handwritten card or specially drawn pictures from little ones wishing your VIP abroad a ‘Happy Paddy’s Day,’ with love are a special touch.”

An Post’s top tips for posting parcels are to carefully print the name and address on your parcel, to include a return address and to use strong packing tape to secure your parcel and its precious cargo. Check with your local Post Office staff for correct postage rates.  An Post also reminds customers that liquids, gels and fresh perishable food items cannot be mailed!
