Robert Emmet Stamps Now on Sale

The bicentenary of the rebellion is marked by the stamps showing dramatic portraits of Emmet, Devlin and Russell against the background of the courthouse or jail associated with their capture.

Designed by renowned Irish artist Robert Ballagh, the Emmet stamp is denominated at 41c, the Russell at 50c and the Devlin at 57c. They went on sale with an attractive First Day Cover.

New stamps celebrating a Centenary of Flight have also gone on sale at post offices. A set of four commemoratives on a minisheet feature the Wright Brothers historic achievement at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Also celebrated is Harry Ferguson’s exploits in flying the first Irish monoplane in 1909. In addition female aviation pioneer Lillian Bland (1910) and the famous Alcock and Brown trans-Atlantic flight to Clilfden in 1919. Designed by artist Vincent Killowry the commemoratives are available with a first day cover and presentation pack costing €4.50.
