Stamp of Approval for Ireland’s hosting of World Flower Show 2014

Friday June 13th, 2014: Two new 60c stamps marking the World Flower Show 2014 to be held at Dublin’s RDS from June 19th - 22 were unveiled at the GPO today.
Irish designer Atelier David Smith created the two stamps featuring a colourful image of an orchid photographed using an X-ray technique to reveal the varying hues and details of the petals. The World Flower Show is a major global event on the international floriculture calendar involving 600 leading floral artists from 31 member countries of the World Association of Flower Arrangers, including North and South America, South Africa, Australia and all parts of Europe. This is Ireland’s first time to host this triennial event, the theme for which is Floral Odyssey this year.
This spell-binding exhibition of flower arrangements will be open to the public from Thursday to Sunday next, showcasing beautiful and extravagant creations by flower arrangers from all over the world.
