Stamp of Approval for that Special Day

17 January 2008

The Wedding stamp grew out of the popularity of the ‘Love’ stamp which was produced for St. Valentine’s Day but became more popular for use on wedding invitations. The Wedding stamp is designed for use on that special day and adds that finishing touch to a wedding invitation.

Designed by Amanda Brady, with stamp photography by Harry Weir, the 2008 Wedding stamp shows the Bride and Groom in a loving embrace. Barney Whelan, Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs at An Post said ‘Due to the popularity of the first series of Wedding stamps we expect there to be huge demand.’ This classic black and white image symbolises love, marriage and the joy a couple’s wedding day brings.

Available in convenient booklets of ten stamps at just €5.50, from www.irishstamps.ie or from the Philatelic Shop, GPO, Dublin 1.

Notes to Editor

The ‘Love’ stamp was produced annually from 1985 until 2006 for St. Valentine’s Day and due to its popularity for couples wishing to use them for wedding invitations it was decided to produce the Wedding stamp.
