Taoiseach unveils Somme Anniversary Stamp

The stamp and First Day Cover were designed by Ms Ger Garland, and feature the painting The Battle of the Somme (36th Ulster Division)  by J. P. Beadle, which is reproduced with the kind permission of Belfast City Council.  The First Day Cover also features a reproduction of South Irish Horse. A Dubliner resting on his way to Arras Front by Sir William Orpen RA.  This image is reproduced with the kind permission of The Imperial War Museum, London.

The stamp is available from the Philatelic Bureau, GPO, Dublin; at main Post Offices and online at www.irishstamps.ie    75c covers airmail postage for a standard letter to anywhere in the world.
