Wedding Day Stamp of Approval
13 February 2008
The 55c, 2008 An Post Wedding Stamp is designed by Amanda Brady, with stamp photography by Harry Weir. The beautiful black and white close-up picture is a timeless image of the bride and groom in a loving embrace on their wedding day.
Barney Whelan, Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs at An Post said "Due to the popularity of the first series of Wedding stamps we expect there to be huge demand. This classic black and white image symbolises love, marriage and the joy a couple’s wedding day brings."
The Wedding stamp grew out of the popularity of the ‘Love’ stamp which was produced for St. Valentine’s Day but became more popular for use on wedding invitations. The Wedding stamp is designed for use on that special day and adds the finishing touch to wedding stationery such as invites, RSVPs and thank you cards.
The 2008 Wedding Stamp is available in convenient booklets of ten stamps at just €5.50, from www.irishstamps.ie or from the Philatelic Shop, GPO, Dublin 1 (01-7057400).

Notes to Editor
The ‘Love’ stamp was produced annually from 1985 until 2006 for St. Valentine’s Day and due to its popularity for couples wishing to use them for wedding invitations it was decided to produce the Wedding stamp.
