What’s the Story with An Post?

Four primary schools received national awards at a special ceremony in Dublin this week:- 1st Class, Scoil Naoimh Eirc, Kilmoyley, Ardfert, Co. Kerry: 4th Class, An Spioraid Naoimh, Roxborough National School, Ballysheedy, Co. Limerick; Class 2, St. Brigid’s School, Ard Easmuinn, Dundalk, Co. Louth and 6th Class, St. Mary’s National School, Knockbridge, Dundalk, Co Louth
The winners attended a special awards ceremony at The Ark cultural centre for children in Dublin to receive their prizes of €1,000, a winners’ certificate and a crystal trophy, while each student, teacher, principal also received individual gifts.
An Post Head of Corporate Communications, Anna McHugh, said the Education Programme is linked to An Post’s national focus on Literacy issues and encourages use of “It’s all about helping young people to fulfil their potential as individuals and as a class. The programme was hugely popular this year, and we appreciate the time and energy given to it by everyone involved, particularly the teachers and school principals,” she said
An Post’s support for Literacy will continue into 2009 with new initiatives involving technical literacy and regeneration programmes.
