An Post beat five shortlisted finalists to claim the national award for the site developed and maintained by its subsidiary PCI (Post Consult International Ltd).

Congratulating An Post on winning the Overall 2003 Esat BT Golden Spider Award, Michael Kennedy, marketing director, Esat BT explained that the winning site was selected on the basis of functionality, design, content, originality, effectiveness and professionalism.

“The An Post site met these criteria to an exceptionally high standard," he said.

Receiving the award on behalf of An Post, Eamonn Ryan, Managing Director of PostTS said that full credit was due to PCI for successfully combining innovative design with functional effectiveness.

“www.anpost.ie attracts more approximately 5000 hits every week so it is imperative that it meets customers’ needs and expectations with maximum speed, ease and style,” he added.

Recent improvements to the An Post site include a fresh new look and the consolidation of product and service information into one central portal which in turn enables customer access to information in just one or two clicks. Useful services including a Post Office Locator and e-card facility were also incorporated into the new design.

The Esat BT Golden Spider awards, now in their 7th year, are Ireland’s most prestigious Internet awards attracting thousands of entries each year.
