Terms and Conditions for the An Post Junior Writing Competition 2023
By participating in this Promotion, you agree to the terms and conditions below,
In these terms and conditions:
“Promoter” means Real Event Management Ltd, Trading as “Real Nation” 24 Arran Quay, Dublin 7 on behalf of An Post.
“Competition” means The An Post Junior Writing Competition which will be run in Primary Schools and Special Schools and is aimed at pupils in primary school or who attend Special Schools up to 6th class level in the Republic of Ireland. Parents and guardians can also enter on behalf of pupils.
“Prize” means the prizes listed at term 15 below.
“Winner” means one of the 11 (eleven) pupils chosen by the Promoter. There will be a total of 11 winners.
“Entrant” means the pupils whose parent/guardian or teacher enters the Competition on their behalf.
All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these Terms and Conditions. It is a condition of entry that all terms and conditions are accepted as final and that the parent/guardian or teacher of the entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
Terms and Conditions
1. The Competition consists of 1 round as follows:
Round 1
Entries shall be submitted on behalf of Entrants by their parent/guardian or teacher on an individual basis.
One entry per Entrant to be submitted only.
The entry consists of a letter writing segment.
Entries shall be categorised into the following:
Junior Infants & Senior Infants
1st & 2nd Class
3rd & 4th Class
5th & 6th Class
Entries shall be adjudicated by the Promoter.
There will be 11 (eleven) Winners chosen with the following breakdown:

1st & 2nd Class National Gold Winner x 1
1st & 2nd Class National Silver Winner x 1
3rd & 4th Class National Gold Winner x 1

Special Merit National Gold Winner x 1

Overall National Winner x 1
2. All Entrants who have an entry submitted on their behalf by parents/ guardians or teachers must be in a primary or special school in the Republic of Ireland, up to 6th class level. When adjudicating the Promoter will take into consideration that entries are from Special Schools.
3. Entrants may be aided/guided by a parent/guardian or teacher. Each entry must have the signature of a parent/guardian or teacher to attest it is the Entrant’s own work.
4. The Parent/guardian or teacher may be asked to confirm the originality of the Entrant’s work.
5. The parent/guardian or teacher of the Entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of the Competition; failure on the part of parent/guardian or teacher to adhere to any or all of these terms and conditions may render an entry invalid.
6. All entries shall be the property of An Post, who shall be the owner of the copyright and will not accept liability for loss or damage to any work submitted. All entries are non-returnable so please ensure a copy of the original work is retained.
7. Entries may be completed in Irish or English.
8. The information provided as part of entries will be used for the implementation of An Post Junior Writing Competition only, including communications regarding the programme. All entries together with the Entrant’s details (first name and school) may be used in publicity campaigns (such as social media channels, websites and other points of sale or marketing materials) after the Competition has finalised. Photographs of the Winners together with their name, school, may be used in publicity campaigns. By submitting an entry, the parents/guardians of the winners will be deemed to have consented in such publicity campaigns.
9. All personal information supplied will be used by An Post, and Real Nation for implementation of the Competition only. This may include sharing with contracted third parties who will design the postcard and print and deliver the certificates. Information will be securely stored, will be retained for up to one year after the Competition and will be disposed of in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations. This will be in line with An Post’s Privacy Policy.

11. The deadline for entry submission is 24th March 2023.
12. Please ensure that the following information is included with each entry: Entrant’s name, Class, School name, School roll number, Parent/ Guardian or teacher’s name and email and application form.
13. Entries will be judged on the basis that a clear understanding of the lesson plan is demonstrated. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding decisions made.
14. All entries will receive a digital certificate.

16. The Promoter reserves the right to change Prize specifications subject to availability at the conclusion of this Competition. No cash or alternative in whole or part of the prize will be offered.
17. Entrants may be required to participate in publicity (photographs, interviews, quotations etc) and by entering into this Competition their parents/ guardians shall be asked to provide written permission in this regard for the publicity of this Competition only.
18. Parents/Guardians of winning entrants shall be contacted by the Promoter for confirmation of this media consent.
19. Photographs, footage and quotes from the winning entries work may be used in future years for the purposes of promoting the Competition and future An Post competitions. By submitting an entry, entrants consent to photographs and/or footage of their entry work to be used for promotional purposes, and for the avoidance of doubt, no personal information will be contained in the photographs, footage and quotes.
20. The Promoter cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed entries. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt. Entries will not be returned to entrants.
21. The Promoter reserves the right to amend, withdraw or terminate the Competition or alter the specification of the Competition without prior notice should that specification be unavailable for reasons beyond their control.
22. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for any reason whatsoever in its sole discretion.
23. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding decisions made.
24. Irish law applies to these terms and conditions.
