Thirty one years ago, on the 31st of August 1994, the IRA announced a "complete cessation of military operations". A vital early step to ending years of violence that culminated in the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
Join us at the GPO Museum as we commemorate the anniversary of this momentous event with a special guided tour charting the turbulent path to peace on the island of Ireland during the twentieth century.

The tour will cover a range of topics, including the Home Rule crisis of 1912, the 1918 general election, partition and the emergence of two states on the island of Ireland, the outbreak of the Troubles, and power-sharing in Northern Ireland since the start of the twenty-first century.

Children of the Revolution Tour
11am Monday 14th April and 11am Saturday 26th April
“It’s easy to die for Ireland. What Ireland needs is people to live honestly for Ireland,” – Helena Healy – mother of Sean ‘Jack’ Healy, Fianna member.
Join us this Easter at the GPO Museum as we remember the children and families who were effected by Ireland’s revolutionary period in the early 1900’s.
On this specially created tour you will discover the stories of the children and teenagers who took an active part in Ireland’s fight for independence. You will uncover the devastation caused to families who lost children in the crossfire in battles across Dublin and Ireland. This tour brings the memories of these sometimes forgotten young people back to life and explores the society and culture that brought them so close to the action and events of the time. Learn about the men and women who trained them, the families left behind and those who grew up in a swiftly changing Ireland. Journey with us through the Dublin they ruled, hear their stories, and understand the importance of commemorating these young lives.
