The GPO Museum is an immersive, interactive and engaging experience telling the story of the 1916 Easter Rising and Modern Irish History.

The GPO Museum is a permanent visitor attraction located within the historic GPO (General Post Office) building on O’Connell Street, Dublin. The experience is one of the newest Dublin Museums and it is one of the top attractions to explore. GPO Witness History has won numerous awards including the Micheletti Award at the European Museum Academy Awards (2017) and Best Cultural Experience at the Irish Tourism Industry Awards - over 100,000 people (2017).

  • Last Admission 4:00 pm
  • Closed Public Holidays, December 23rd and Christmas Eve.

  • Seniors (65+) €15.00

Groups & Tours

A GPO Museum tour gives a fascinating insight into modern Irish history - Please note that guided tours are restricted in numbers, we will work with you for the most appropriate way to facilitate your group numbers.

At the GPO Museum we offer a public guided tour on Saturday. We cater for various types of groups including active retired, historical societies, language schools, primary and secondary schools, university students, tour operators, corporate groups among others.

Education at the GPO

Students will also learn about the major milestones in modern Irish history in this historic building through an interactive and immersive experience.

The GPO Museum was acknowledged by European Museum Academy Awards as a centre of peace and reconciliation.

The GPO Museum offers engaging and educational school tours to students of all ages which are linked to the various curricula.

The GPO Museum is centrally located on O'Connell Street in Dublin City Centre. It is close to luas and bus stops including Hop on Hop Off Bus Stops.
