Frank Burke

Frank Burke joined An Post as a Junior Postperson in September 1976 and is currently Processing Area Manager in the Dublin Mails Centre. He became a union activist in 1979 and was elected to the Parcels Outdoor Branch Committee where he also served as Chairman.

Frank is currently Branch Secretary of the CWU Dublin Mails Managers Branch and a member of the National Executive Council. He holds a certificate in Trade Union and Business Studies from the National College of Industrial Relations. 

Paula Butler

Chief Admin Officer & Company Secretary

Paula was appointed as Chief Administration Officer & Company Secretary in January 2020, having been appointed as Company Secretary in 2019.  She first joined An Post as Head of Procurement in 2014, with expertise in supply chain management.  Prior to An Post, Paula held procurement focussed roles in a variety of companies and industries including regulatory, pharmaceutical, hardware & software manufacturers and a regional airline. Paula holds an MBS from Dublin City University, a Diploma from Kings Inns and a BA in Business Studies from University of Liverpool.
 

Barry Gavin

Barry Gavin is an adjunct lecturer in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School where he lectures in Sustainable finance and Renewable Energy Finance. He previously held executive roles with an Irish IPP and now sits on the boards of entities and investment funds in various roles, including Independent Chair, Chair of Audit & Risk as well as Independent Non-Executive Director.
 
Barry brings over 20 years-experience of C-Suite and Board experience in the area of Sustainability and Climate Change, specifically in Renewable Power, Buildings, Transport and Municipalities sectors.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), a graduate of DCU (BA & MBA), a member of the Institute of Directors (Dip IoD) and a graduate of the Saïd Business School, Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme.
 

Helen Kelly

Helen Kelly is a Senior Counsel.  Helen has expertise in EU and Irish competition law and regulation and who has worked in Dublin, London and Brussels. She has more than 25 years' experience advising on complex competition and regulatory issues including merger control associated with major M&A transactions and litigation before Irish and EU Courts.
Helen was previously a senior partner at Matheson where she led the EU Competition and Regulatory practice for 21 years. She is a law graduate of Trinity College, Dublin (LL.B) and the London School of Economics (LLM).

Matt Kennedy

Dr. Matt Kennedy is Arup’s Global Leader for Climate Strategy Services and is the Europe Region Sustainable Development Leader, responsible for delivering climate change services and sustainable development within infrastructure, property and cities.

He brings 25 years’ experience in delivering national and international carbon, climate change and sustainable development initiatives across government, industry and academia. Matt was Lead Negotiator for the European Union at the UN Paris Agreement (COP21) negotiations and was previously Chair of the UNEP’s Climate Technology Centre.
 
Matt previously worked with the Irish Government, University College Cork, and the United Nations where he led clean energy and climate transformation projects across Africa, Asia and Middle East. He holds a PhD in Engineering from Trinity College Dublin and Masters’ degrees from NUI Galway and University College Dublin. He is a Chartered Sustainability professional with IEMA. 


 

Sinéad Mahon

Sinéad Mahon's areas of specialism include strategic transformation, governance, culture, risk management and conduct. She has held roles including CEO, COO, Chief Financial Officer and divisional head in various regulated Irish and European banking groups and investment firms. 

Sinéad holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, a first class MBA from Dublin City University, a Diploma in Company Direction and is a Certified Bank Director. She chairs the INED Forum at the Council of the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland.
 

Anthony McCrave

Anthony McCrave joined An Post as a postman in Dundalk Delivery Office in March 1999. After two years he was moved to network duties driving to Dublin and Portlaoise Mail Centres. He is still employed in Dundalk as a postal operative with a mails network driving role to the Dublin Mail Centre.
 
After a couple of years in the company Anthony became an active member of the Communications Workers Union at local level and he  has been branch secretary since 2007.  He is also a member of the National Executive Council since 2012 where he serves on numerous Joint working groups.  
 

Pádraig McNamara

Postmaster Director

Appointed for a second term on 1 January, 2022

Pádraig McNamara is the Postmaster director. Padraig is the postmaster in Granard, Co. Longford. He has been Postmaster at Granard for 22 years and a member of the Irish Postmasters’ Union Executive for 17 years and served as Vice President.

David McRedmond

Chief Executive Officer

David McRedmond was appointed Chief Executive Officer of An Post in October, 2016. He was previously CEO of TV3 where he transformed the company into a major Irish broadcaster, concluding with its sale to Liberty Global in December 2015. Prior to TV3, David was the Commercial Director of Eircom and the Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. His early career was as a retail industry executive in the UK and USA where he held senior roles such as Operations Director of Waterstones, Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail and CEO of WH Smith Inc.

A native of Dublin, David holds a Masters degree in Modern Irish History from UCD. He completed the Top Management Programme at the Cabinet Office, UK and the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. He is the non-executive Chairman of Eir, Ireland’s leading telecoms company, a director of Premier Lotteries Ireland and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.”

William Mooney

William Mooney has worked in the postal service since 1982 and is currently employed as a post office clerk. He is a director of The Prize Bond Company. He is a member of the National Executive Council of the Communications Workers’ Union and Secretary of the Dublin Postal Clerks Branch. He is a graduate of the National College of Ireland where he studied human resource management and employee relations.
 

Kieran Mulvey

Kieran Mulvey served as Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission from 1991 to 2016 and as Director General of the Workplace Relations Commission until June 2016. Kieran has served on many University Boards and various Government Bodies/Agencies. He is a graduate of UCD and holds postgraduate qualifications in Education and Law. A Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland, Kieran holds Honorary Doctorates of Laws from the National University of Ireland and UCD and is an Honorary Fellow of the Employment Law Association.  He was recently conferred with the first Honorary Fellow of the CIPD.
 

Martina O'Connell

Martina O’Connell joined An Post in 1993 as an auxiliary postperson and is now working as a postal operative in Cork’s South City Delivery Office. She has served as President of the Communications Workers’ Union. An active member of the union since she joined the company, she has been a member of the National Executive Council since 2002 and serves on a number of sub-committees.
 

Gerry Sexton

Employee Director

Appointed 1 November, 2020

Gerry Sexton joined An Post in September 1984 as a Postperson. On completion of his training in the CSO Sheriff Street he worked for a year in Dublin 16 delivery office and then moved to Dublin 8 where he is currently based, performing his delivery by E-trike.
 
A CWU activist for over 30 years Gerry has covered many roles including local committee member in James Street delivery office, progressing to Branch Rep and Committee Member of the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch.
 
In 2011 Gerry was elected to the position of Vice-Chairperson of the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch and was elected Branch treasurer in 2014, a position he has retained since then. He has been a member of the National Executive Council of the CWU since 2016.
